Thank you to everyone who helped make TECA’s 2018 Building 2e Awareness & Community Conference a huge success! We were delighted to welcome the 150 parents and professionals who joined us for the day.
Our keynote speaker, SENG Executive Director, educator and parent of three 2e kids, Dr. Michael Postma, gave a moving and insightful presentation on what it means to be a twice exceptional individual. Drawing from both his experiences as a father and an educator, Mike was able to convey in clear and compassionate language the struggles that these students face, and how both parents and educators can better understand and support these kids so that we can help them to unlock their incredible potential by meeting them at their individual level.
TECA was also thrilled to add a professional track of sessions led by Dr. Lois Baldwin to this year’s conference, introducing dozens of educators and others who work with twice exceptional students and their families to fundamental best practices for working with this population.
This year’s conference presented over 15 breakout sessions for attendees to choose from. Our presenters and panelists were wonderful, providing guests with an in-depth understanding of the issues 2e children and families face, practical tools and strategies for addressing a variety of challenges, and the embrace of a growing community that understands, supports and celebrates our children and families.
